- _p_a_t_h_c_o_n_f provides a shell interface to the _pppp_aaaa_tttt_hhhh_cccc_oooo_nnnn_ffff(2) system call for
- determining the current value of a configurable limit or option
- (_v_a_r_i_a_b_l_e) that is associated with a file or directory.
-
- The _n_a_m_e argument represents the variable to be queried. The list of
- supported variables can be obtained by invoking _pppp_aaaa_tttt_hhhh_cccc_oooo_nnnn_ffff without any
- arguments. By default, the values pertain to the root file system
- (``/''), to query the values of a different file or directory, use the _----_pppp
- option.
-
- When invoked with a _n_a_m_e argument, _p_a_t_h_c_o_n_f displays the system value of
- each of the requested variables, one per line. Otherwise, it displays
- the entire set with accompanying labels. A printed value of -1 means
- that there is no limit for _n_a_m_e for the given _p_a_t_h. If an error is
- encountered from _pppp_aaaa_tttt_hhhh_cccc_oooo_nnnn_ffff(2), the system error message is printed in
- place of the value.
-
- _pppp_aaaa_tttt_hhhh_cccc_oooo_nnnn_ffff exits with a status of 1 if any errors are encountered,
- otherwise it exits with status 0.
